About Neverland
Classics

Neverland Classics is Neverland Connect’s flagship online learning program for teens and preteens in Grade 4 and above. Led by our founder, Waylon Leng, alongside Elliana from Australia, the program brings young learners together through English, classic literature, and cross-cultural discussion.

Most students are based in China, while our broader community also includes participants and youth leaders from the United States, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, France and Vietnam. During our weekly 75-minute sessions, students explore timeless works by authors such as Homer and Shakespeare, strengthen their English communication skills, and discover the historical and cultural contexts behind the literature.

Through student-centered discussions, presentations, and interactive activities, learners are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, express their ideas with confidence, and learn from peers with different backgrounds and perspectives.

Who Thrives in This Community

  1. English proficiency: community members should have sufficient English proficiency in order to understand conversational language from native speakers in the English speaking countries.

  2. Time commitment: time is very important when learning any language and culture. Community members must spend time both for weekly classes and for necessary preparation for the classes.

  3. Parent involvement: although Neverland Classics is taught by preteens and teens, adult involvement is crucial for community members so that they have the perseverance to continue learning in the community. Although parents have to spend time with their children to learn, they will find the experience very rewarding.
